Luke started martial arts as a kid, taking Judo and then wrestling when he got into high school. After high school, Rockhold began taking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Claudio Franca before he decided to pursue an MMA career, which is when he made the switch to American Kickboxing Academy. After starting his MMA career at 1-1, Rockhold began to blossom and was tabbed as one of Strikeforce’s brightest prospects. After recovering from several injuries, Rockhold was given his biggest test, earning a middleweight title shot against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in September of 2011. He would go on to win a unanimous decision to become the new Strikeforce Middleweight Champion.
